A birthday is a narcissistic injury… wow, so powerfully true. I've witnessed this, it's awfully embarrassing for them!
Wow! This family member detests Christmases. He would hide away in his room and when he was told to come down and join the family, he would sulk, critize and give the silent treatment. Christmas always ended in tears and despair. We thought he was suffering from social phobia. Twenty years after, HE, is initiating we do Christmas (just because he realises we now hate Xmas). No thanks. Little Bugger!

A person with a personality disorder has a pathological defect in his/her development. In all cases, it stems from childhood maltreatment (in terms of what parents did or did not do). Usually maltreated children either want others to suffer more than they did…. or if they acquire intellectual character they feel that they will do anything in the world to spare others the trials through which they themselves have gone. Unless they rise to the principle they are helpless and hopeless.

I experienced this first-hand, when my "best friend" stonewalled me during her birthday trip to Disneyworld with me and her few "friends" and family. I was happy to be there, and could act like a kid. She could not. She later told me she was envious of her guy friend's attention of me–she was in love with her gay guy friend–and she simply never allowed herself to celebrate her own birthday trip! Only devoting her attention the whole week to her gay guy friend, and never once to her "best friend." You can imagine why I was at a loss until I came across videos such as these. Wow!

This description reminds me of so many people
This girl who shalt me out to use me to promote her own self ruined my birthday and it was weird to me. She had a bad attitude, sent back food (when she's over weight and eats anything), was offended and brought up fights and had other plans for that day and left after she caused problems and just stunk the place up with her moody attitude and actions. I was glad to see her go.
This is a very good episode Sam, I really appreciated the moment at the end where you relayed how the narcissist views the very individuals who wish to bring him love as mortal enemies for wanting to take away his grudge if even only momentarily… Very compelling thoughts.

This is my mother every holiday or birthday! Thank you for posting on this subject.No wonder birthday's were not celebrated or even a gift given. Her famous words were, "It's just another day! Many times no sign of love was shown on all our birthdays or even acknowledged. When someone gives her a gift, it could sit there for who knows how long until I say, aren't you going to open that? No happiness, excitement, nothing, like it's a chore!

OHHHHH They SURE do…..but narcissists know exactly what they're doingl..==..you stalk em first, and PLAN to destroy their birthdays. After you destroy their bd…you NEVER ever say you're sorry. Then on your bd, you have a "rebirth" ..complete with out of body experiences , such feelings you've never felt before!…such freedom! ooooh and you go on and on about it!~~really you ENJOY every second of twisting the knife.
Oh and throw away all those substandard presents or give them away or puts them outside in the yard! Never say thank you for em. they are Not appreciated. Complain and whine about em . and, Never never forget a slight!
