Natural Possession is an experimental film in which Butoh artist Alan Sutherland delivers the most elegant, terrifying performance. Step inside and experience the mind of a mentally ill artist.

Someone is killing homeless people in Pioneer Square. Local artist John Willem has been known to suffer from mental delusions but he believes he is having psychic visions about the killer’s identity; is it a gruesome, terrifying monster or the performance artist downstairs?

Desperately reaching out to his vanity driven, lust crazed friends only gets him stabbed in the back and sinks John deeper into psychosis. Confessing his visions to the local police gets him ridiculed. Now John is in a race against borrowed time. It’s up to him to save himself. Too bad John’s own narcissism conceals a much more sinister plot; a running bet for control of the entire universe.

The film was shot on Super 16mm and set in Pioneer Square, Seattle. It examines the horror of homelessness and mental illness while poking fun at the local art scene.
Natural Possession was modeled after classic monster and experimental, art house movies. It stars Alan Sutherland, Larry Laverty, Benjamin Barak Andrews, Marcel Davis, Dex Manley & Kelly King. This film asks the question what exactly goes on inside the head of a mentally ill, narcissist artist struggling to save the universe from the forces of Good vs. Evil?
