  1. I ran into a narcissist at uni and believe me, they are not like normal people. They ARE different to people with just heightened self-esteem – this isn't about believing they're a good person or high;y capable etc, they literally, deep down, full on believe that they are superior to others and literally cannot even grasp the idea that they are not entitled to something they want. They have NO EMPATHY for others either, honestly they just cannot widen their view past themself. Get away from these people! They are toxic!

  2. I saw something similar on Brain Games a while ago where Jason Silva simply asked psychopaths if they were psychopaths. Most of them answered that they were indeed psychopaths…

  3. Omg don't you guys see that this test actually further proves how hard it is to "cure" narcissists. The fact that they would openly agree that they are a narcissist only goes to show how proud they are about it. They don't see this egoistic trait as a problem but instead, a value to hold on to for life. Jesus. The first step to solving a problem is recognizing one but looks like the first simple step could easily take the life of a creature doomed with narcissism.

  4. narcissists come from fucked up familys who neglect or abuse

  5. this is bs! the person that's going to answer "yes" to being a narcissist is going to answer the same on the other question. narcissists won't admit there is anything wrong with them.

  6. I did the narcissism inventory test and scored 36/40, I think I am a narcissist person in some aspects of my life, however, I do think that I am more intelligent or at least more capable than other people, most of the times I am right in everything I say, I am auto sufficient and don't like things done other way, because I believe my way of doing things is more efficient, and it is. I rather prefer doing a team school assignment by myself and adding the other peoples' names than having them to do the work and then having to correct it all because they clearly don't understand the topic. I find that I am very manipulative and I find it very easy to manipulate people to do what I want, like in relationships, and most of the time I get away with it, and it works for me. I think some people are mistaking being aware of our abilities and using them to our advantage with being narcissist. I like the way I am, I like that I am better than other people, and doing things by myself works for me and I don't see a problem with it, I am not miserable if I don't have any friends because I don't have to bear their stupidity. And if that makes me a narcissist then it's ok, I don't mind it and I don't wanna change it.

  7. This is my first negative comment I've ever posted as I can usually see the good in almost any situation, but this video is bullshit, and dangerous to those seeking accurate information about narcissistic abuse.

  8. bullshit. Narcisissists don`t know that they are so, and would never admit it.

  9. There are narcissists who don't know what the word even means. They are completely ignorant on any aspect of psychology.
If you asked, "Are you a narcissist?" they'd respond with, "What's that?"
They would require the longer test.

  10. Oh my god, Karen. You can't just ask people if they're a narcissist.

  11. People usually do not know what the term means. If they do, they would say 'no' because it is not socially acceptable and they have their fake person on. My spouse will admit to the traits but will not take on the label.

  12. To live the horror cannot be defined so simply. Science is black & white. Real life experiences knowing a narcissistic abuser (NPD in the DSM-VI…) is a million shades of gray.
Good content as a start to understanding. ✌

  13. Pretty much everyone is a bit narcissistic. Think about it. People are not aware, can´t accept the fact that they are in charge of themselves and how they feel. Your life, your happiness does not come from outside, and neither does your unhappiness. It´s not others hurting you – It´s your own mind. Think about "waiting" for example. It doesn´t actually exist. You´re just living a moment like always, but you create the idea of waiting, and get mad. Google truthcontest asap

  14. if only it were that easy. I think most don't know they are.

  15. Hah! I KNEW IT!
Well then again I am ALWAYS right, so I'm not surprised!

  16. covert and somatic narcs, drain sympathy and quietly control everything around them, this question wont work for that type, or for co-morbids. They will deny it, especially since more people are informed about how draining this type of person can be over time.

  17. you are only addressing typical narcissism not the vulnerable kind

  18. No. If Narcissists have this grandiose view of themselves and think they are perfect and flawless, accusing them of being a Narcissist will be seen as a threat to them – to indicate they are not great, perfect and superior and because of this, the Narcissist will deny and defend himself and possibly get very angry at you for calling him that. Narcissist will never admit themselves or anyone that they are one, as it is seen as a negative trait and is destructive to their deluded grandiose of self. They cannot self reflect and see flaws. A true Narcissist will never call himself one.

  19. Eh I don't totally agree because I swear I've meant narcissistic people who would be very annoyed that you dare call them narcissistic because of course they're the most generous and empathic people in the world

  20. Awesome slides! digging it, Good job NY magazine. :)

  21. "The results of the long survey and the short survey have been nearly identical. This research suggests that" the psychologists in the study think the subject can do all of their work for them and that they don't think there can be any self-deception in the subject or social factors influencing their answers.

  22. the question only works for people with narc traits but not at the pathological level. because true narcs cannot introspect.

  23. Not that simple. They are not stupid and know that narcissist is a bad word, and If they admit to it its harder to manipulate people wich is what they do.

  24. How stupid this is to simplified

  25. some of this is not true. a narc would not admit to being a narcissist.

  26. "in what ways can you change and grow"

  27. I'm a self aware narcissist and to be honest, I look forward to the emotional pain I will cause future spouses.

  28. My dad is narcissist I've known for awhile now

  29. I've been called a narcissist by many people, but i am not, they just can't except that i have qualities that most people do not have. They are just envious of how much i always win at whatever i do. I'm always landing on top, i can't help it, i'm just gifted. Some have it and most don't.
Go cry me a river losers and park my Merc in my guest house driveway please, thank you, go away now, i only deal with important people.

  30. This video is not true at all

  31. We're all these things, but some are just better at hiding it and the ones that aren't are labeled narcissists.

  32. Well but how do you ask this your dad

  33. To be honest, it really takes a great deal of effort and struggle to deal with people like these. It's not that I dislike or hate them, in fact I pity them and I am sad for them. That sometimes, all you could just do is to simply understand and be silent.

  34. 383.000 views, but no comment? whhhhhaaaaaattttttttt?

  35. Great video but what if they say no?

  36. Im narcissistic so what its not like i am a bad person i never hurt anybody , its not my fault i was born with good looks and money, ugly people are always jealous of us
    its none of your business

  37. Nr 1 rule of survival, self preservation. Everyone is a fucking egotistical narcissist.

  38. Because a Narissist is so brain dead that of course he will answer honestly…
Really guys? You really think they think in Layer 1?

  39. I am a very empathetic person and I'm not a fan of being around narcissistic people. It's super draining.

  40. The people to which I'd most likely pose this question would see it as a focused attack. Now what?

  41. This might be that both the short and long narcissist test is flawed in the same way. I know a lot of narcissists that will totally deny being a narcissist even thought their narcissism is as clear as day. But at the same time that they will deny that they are a narcissist, they will also deny the traits that make them so narcissistic. So, it is that both test are flawed, and a person that will lie or deny their clear narcissistic traits will also deny their narcissism, the people who will accept their narcissistic traits will also accept they are a narcissist.

  42. 0:36 That describes half of the commenters on YouTube.

  43. If narcissism is indeed a psychological condition (which I guess it could well be), isn't it a little concerning how unsympathetic this video is?
