I have always had an affinity for self-portraits. Perhaps it is the Narcissist Artist in me. I took all of the pictures I’ve taken of myself from various social networking platforms (spanning 7+ years) and juxtaposed them here. In this highly technologically savvy age (or the necessity to be so) I think these photos speak volumes about self-obsession and the inherent desire for approval. In this “Global-Me” world of the internet, there is a constant battle to find your niche in social status. Nowadays we even have tags like #GPOY. Platforms like Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and more bring together the flamboyant and the anonymous, creating a breeding ground for exhibitionism and voyeurism. We are keeping in touch without touching. We are all trying to connect…through wires.
