# 2 – Do You Know A Narcissist? 2015/05/24 AM – Genesis 4:1-16
Introduction of Narcissist’s jokes… Maybe those help explain what narcissist behavior is like.
We looked last week how our conscience went wrong with Adam & Eve in the garden of Eden. They disobeyed their godly conscience & sinned. And every sinful act since then is a result of them falling away from God. So let’s pick up the story & look at what happened when they had a family & see what a fallen conscience can turn into. Sadly, Adam & Eve soon realized they’d raised a Narcissist son named Cain.
In Genesis 3, Eve was at first thrilled & said that she’d gotton a baby boy from the Lord but as Cain grew
up, I think she rethought that. We know that Adam & Eve taught their children about God, salvation, faith as Hebrews 11:4 says Abel understood & obeyed.
But when it was time to bring an offering to God,
Cain showed his first narcissistic trait because instead of trading for a lamb from Abel, as he’d obviously been told, he decided his way was just fine. So let’s ask our first question…are you a narcissist? I’m told that one in ten people are but after studying this, I think the percentage is higher than that. Do you serve the Lord the way the Bible says or do you rationalize what you do, because you think you know better
The problem shows up again in vs 5, when God rebukes Cain, because a narcissist can’t stand to be wrong for they just can’t fathom that they’ve made a mistake or were flawed in some way.
