After seven years of abuse I finally closed the door on my narcissistic relationship two days ago. I feel so beat down and almost not functional.. I thought about just leaving this world. I FEEL LIKE IV BEEN AROUND A STRANGER I ALSO FEEL HUMILIATED AND STUPID. THIS PEOPLE HAVE NO EMPATHY FOR HUMANS OR ANIMALS. IM ANGRY AT MYSELF FOR LETTING MYSELF BE AROUND A PERSON OF THIS NATURE. LUCKY HES IN LATE 40S . I WOULDNT PUT NO MENTAL ILL PERSON DOWN. ITS JUST THAT THEY SHOULD BE LOOKED AFTER IN A HOSPITAL WHERE THEY CANNOT HURT THEMSELFS OR OTHERS. WHAT ABOUT THE NEXT FAMILY THAT HAPPENS TO COME ALONG THERE IN DANGER THEN. IT IS REALLY CRAZY THEIR THOUGHT PROCESS MADCAPS.

Great Videos. I'd like your opinion on something I have noticed with my ex Narc. She is the type who calls everyone sweetie or honey with a slight condescending tone. I never said anything until one of my friends wife mentioned something. Side bar, she is a huge fan of Sex In The City's Carrie character. I realized what didn't feel right to me about her personality. I am not a fan at all of that character. She gave me the impression of the nerdy girl in high school that nobody paid attention to and is now trying to hard to be cool. She puts on this persona in public and when we are alone she is rather dull. Then explodes if she doesn't like what I have to say. My question to you is this. Do you find Narcs mirror personalities from movies or television because they realize they do not have a personality of their own? Just like in The Cable Guy.

Narcissists are emotionally manipulative predators that operate by stealth. When they are seen by the herd they have to move on to better hunting grounds. Sam Vaknin calls this their pathological space. It usually includes their home and immediate geographical location but they will go outside their familiar territory when supply runs short.
If you want to see this person in their full glory- do something out of line… put on ugly clothes, show them your fat stomach, anything that is real they cannot handle any of that. Their mask will fall and they will react and you in some stange manner like running out of the house and through the fence– then they will turn around and say something stupid like "ICKY" and will you be discarded. No need to wait!!

I kind of know what my narc mom does when she thinks she is alone because I live with her. She works third shift and is up at night so while she thinks I am sleeping I can often hear her and there is just so much rage and anger a lot of the time. Muttering to herself, slamming things, ticked off for no apparent reason. Definitely none of the fake niceness or victim attitude she often puts on in front of others.

you are right. they end up living a fantasy in whatever environment they are in. either way, there is always something similar in every fantasy. however, its events change. it's like a
movie genre or trope. over and over and over, like a twisted child. no ending to the movie, just perpetual romance scene followed by nothing then romance again… never a conclusion, no closure. for anything.
i cannot imagine the hell that could be their life, although i think i have felt it.
My narc husband use to worry about what our lawn looked like – he didn't want anyone driving by and saying something "negative". It dawned on me one day and I asked him, "Why is it that you care more about the outside of the house and what someone would say, but you don't care what happens INSIDE the house and your relationship with me." Of course, that didn't go over well!

This video helped me. I think my last of 3 NPDs devalued me as he saw himself for what he was because I saw him and his behavior and couldn't accept it. He had to project it on me and devalue me as a way out. It's sad because I have the capacity to forgive like I suspect many of us on this site do. God creates the opposites attract scenario but I seemed to get the short end of the stick perhaps. Or maybe my NPD suffers more than I do. Probably not the right question. I am a co narcissist after 3 in a row I have to admit I've got a problem. But at 57 it may be too late for me. Acceptance is coming slowly.
