Once Upon a Time… I was told that the moment before you die that your whole life flashes before you…..

“The photographer is an armed version of the solitary walker reconnoitering, stalking, cruising the urban inferno, the voyeuristic stroller who discovers the city as a landscape of voluptuous extremes. Adept of the joys of watching, connoisseur of empathy, the flâneur finds the world ‘picturesque.”
― Susan Sontag, On Photography

Here is my entry video for the Emirates BE THERE challenge.
It proved to be quite an extraordinary task to distill ones passion for travel in a minute video.
To try and be off the wall as my personality tends to be I thought it would be best to create a pastiche of my traveling eye. I wanted to digest the archives of digital footage that harbors the secrets of my world. I thought it would be an interesting way to view stills in motion so all the images I have used in this video are stills that i wouldn’t necessarily print and frame but I believe that some of the magic reside in these in between moments.

Where do I begin was the major question all along. It’s so hard when you just have so many loves in your life. Whether it is taking portraits of my expectant friend on a lone rock on the ocean, walking on icebergs in Iceland and eating ancient glaciers and to chill your drink, to capturing the first moments of your nephews arrival to obsessively attempting to capture yourself levitating and jumping like a sociopath as people stare because that is the only way to express the sheer joy of a new land uncovered.

I have so many areas of interest especially capturing life on the street and the details that define culture, style and identity. I love street style and how everyday people use this societal costume as an extension of oneself to bind and also distance themselves from the status quo.
The aromas and sounds of yesteryear, tomorrow, and other worlds continue to collide as the globe becomes more accessible through the era of flight.
Well I hope that this video brings a smile to your cheek and piques the tiniest of inspirations and new beginnings. All adventures start from within. May the road rise to meet you along the way. Wherever you may be.
